An agreement was signed today in the temporary capital, Aden, for the preparation of engineering designs and a technical assessment for the development of Ibn Sina General Hospital Authority in Hadramout Governorate. The project is financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development with a grant of US$474,700.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, and Dr. Yaseen Al-Obthani, representative of the Kuwaiti consulting firm Global Synergy Partners.

Following the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Zouba stated that the project represents the first step toward rehabilitating and expanding the hospital to meet the growing demand for healthcare services in Hadramout and neighboring governorates. She noted that Ibn Sina General Hospital is one of the region’s leading healthcare facilities, providing specialized medical services and receiving large numbers of patients from across the country, making the expansion of its infrastructure and medical capacity a national priority.

The Minister also pointed out that Yemen’s health infrastructure has suffered significant deterioration in recent years as a result of the country’s prolonged crisis. She stressed the importance of intensifying efforts and directing support toward the rehabilitation of critical health facilities while ensuring full compliance with agreed technical standards, engineering specifications, and implementation timelines.

Dr. Al-Zouba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the health sector in partnership with national and international stakeholders and to implementing projects that improve the quality of healthcare services across Yemen’s governorates.

The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Wazirah Al-Sharmani, Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation for the Projects Sector; Dr. Shawqi Al-Sharjabi, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population for Curative Medicine; and Dr. Hussein Al-Haddad, Chairman of Ibn Sina General Hospital Authority.
